Utopia efterlyser nu konstnärer till ett nytt projekt där utförandet görs med hjälp av en så kallad eyewriter. Eyewritern är ett par glasögon med en lins som är kopplade till datorn som gör att du kan rita med din pupill.
Vi söker nu 4 konstnärer med olika bakgrund och olika erfarenhet med att arbeta med sin pupill till ett längre konstprojekt som kommer pågå under ca 7 månader. Vilken typ av konst som ska komma ur projektet är upp till er så länge det skapas med hjälp av den här tekniken och att du är beredd att lägga ner den tid det krävs för att träna och lära dig använda ögat i ritprogrammet. Vi söker konstnärer som gör alltifrån illustrationer till måleri. Du kan ha ingen erfarenhet alls med att arbeta med ögat eller erfarenhet från andra typer av program.
I projektet vill Utopia Makes genom teknik synliggöra och ifrågasätta vem som kan uttrycka sig genom konst och vilka möjligheter som uppfattas finnas för att göra det. Det handlar om att skapa förebilder och väcka tankar kring begreppet normalitet och hur ett hjälpmedel som eyewriter skulle kunna användas av alla som är intresserade av konst, oavsett funktionalitet. Utopia Makes vill genom konsten problematisera och väcka debatt kring vem som får tillgång till det offentliga rummet och överbrygga kulturella barriärer.
Du kommer att jobba både enskilt och i grupp för att lära av varandra. Utbytet mellan er är lika viktigt som dina egna produktioner.
Slutvernissagen planeras våren 2015.
Arvode finns.
Projektet kommer utföras i Göteborg. Reseersättning för konstnärer utifrån finns ej.
Projektet utformas tillsammans med projektledaren och den grupp som väljs ut så i dagsläget är allting väldigt öppet.

Utopia Makes is looking for artists for a new project called ”Eyewriter”. The Eyewriter is a pair of glasses with a lens attached to your computer that allows you to draw with your pupil.
We are looking for four visual artists with different backgrounds and experiences for a seven-month art project. It is up to you to decide what type of art you create, as long as it is produced with the help of this technology and you are willing to spend the time it takes to train your eye to use the drawing program. We welcome artists who are new to this technique. We are especially interested in artists who can make drawings from paintings.
This project brings visibility to the question of who expresses themselves through art and what possibilities are perceived to exist. We hope to create new role models and encourage people to think about the concept of ”ability” and how a technique like the Eyewriter could be used by anyone interested in art and functionality. Utopia Makes wants to use the Eyewriter to bridge cultural barriers and raise questions about who has access to the public space.
You will be working both individually and in groups to learn from each other. The exchange between artists in the project will be as important as your own work.
The final vernissage is planned for May 2015.
You will receive a fee for your work.
The project will be in Gothenburg. We are unable to cover travel expenses.
The project will be developed in a partnership between the project manager and the group. At this point, the direction of the project is very open.
